Neil Smith Sensei

Neil Smith is a Geelong based Aiki Jujutsu instructor having achieved his Sandan (3rd degree black belt) in Osaka, Japan in 2017, under the instruction of Kawabe Takeshi Shihan and Leigh Dicker Sensei.

Neil originated his martial arts journey in Karate, Aikido and a westernized variation of Jujutsu (Goshu Ryu Jujutsu) before becoming captivated by Aiki Jujutsu.

Why Aiki Jujutsu? Although and old classical style of martial arts, Aiki Jujutsu still has many modern teachings, the physical jujutsu side of grappling, locks, chokes and throws, to the more graceful side of Aiki which incorporates blending with an attackers energy in a supple less physical way. In Aiki Jujutsu size and strength are irrelevant, with good technique more fundamental. Aiki jujutsu is infinetly variable in technique and applications. The Aiki Jujutsu practitoner is constantly in a state of learning.

Neil along with Dicker Sensei have been actively teaching childrens class’s since 2018. Into the future Neil will be focused on more self improvement of Aiki jujutsu study as well as further development of the children’s class’s.
