2012 End of Year Wrap-up

2012 has been a terrific year for Gold Coast Daito-ryu with membership continuously growing. The Gold Coast Daito-ryu now has an extended membership of 17 people. The age of our members ranges from 12 to 64yrs young. The highlight of the year was a visit from Annoiki sensei (Kyoju Dairi) who spent ten days teaching dojo members and guests the finer points of this remarkable martial art.

The year was marked by some sadness at the passing of Paul Broeders sensei of the Ballarat Dojo. Paul had recently visited us for practice with Annoiki sensei. I am greatly heartened by the determination of his students to carry on their practice in the way that he taught them.

It is a great pleasure to be a part of the Daito-ryu community and in particular the Gold Coast Dokokai with such a great bunch of people who all share a passion for learning Daito-ryu. I really value the constructive and supportive environment that our students have cultivated.

There will be New Years Day training 1/1/13 held at the PCYC Tweed Heads for any members or guests brave enough to come along after new year celebrations. Practicing on New Years Day has become a tradition for our club and is an excellent way to begin your new year.

The last class for 2012 will be held on December 20th and normal classes will resume January 8th 2013.
